New updates will appear soon on the Microsoft Edge web browser. This means Edge uses a lot of your computer’s resources like memory (RAM) and processing power. It used to slow down your computer. Especially if you are running several other programs or playing games at the same time. Microsoft will look to better browser performance settings and the ability to better control speed.

Microsoft Edge Will See Better Settings Control and Speed Performance

Microsoft Edge beta version 124.0.2478.10 which was released on March 28. One of these new features is called “Resource Control”. This feature will give you options to limit how much memory Edge can use. Currently, there are two modes available: Gaming and Always. This gaming mode will automatically limit Edge’s memory usage when it detects that you are playing a game. Due to this other resources will be freed up to run the game smoothly. On the other hand, Always Mode will limit Edge’s memory usage at all times, whether you’re gaming or not.
Additionally, Microsoft is also testing a slider that will allow you to manually adjust how much memory Edge can use. This slider will also let you choose the maximum amount of memory Edge can consume. This will save enough memory for other apps or games you are running. But Microsoft has warned that setting the limit too low will negatively impact Edge’s performance.

This update will help you monitor Edge’s memory usage. Microsoft is also adding a new section to the “Browser Essentials” tab that will show you how much RAM the browser is currently using. This way you won’t need to open the Task Manager or Edge’s settings to check resource consumption.

Microsoft Edge Stable Version 124.0.2478.10 Release Date

Microsoft’s effort is to provide better performance settings and AI features like the Chrome browser. This speed test will be available in the “Tools” app in the Edge sidebar, allowing you to quickly check your Internet speed without having to visit a separate website. Users will have more control over their profiles.

Microsoft is also making some improvements to Edge’s Settings pages. Privacy, security, search, and services settings will be reorganized into two sections: “Privacy and Security” and “Search and Services“. This change is intended to make it easier for users to find the settings they are looking for.

These new features and improvements will give you better control over the performance and speed of Microsoft Edge, as well as make it easier to manage your settings and profiles and limit memory usage. Microsoft is including features like removing Wordpad for better features or updating to Moment 5 released on Windows 11.
