Microsoft Has Confirmed Bugs in the Last April Update Windows 11 KB5036980

Microsoft released the first update KB5036893 on Windows 11 on April 9th and the second update KB5036980 was released recently on April 23. In which many new features and improvements were included. But users have also seen bugs in this update. Which has been accepted by Microsoft.

The very first problem is an error code 0x80070520. This prevents users from changing their account profile picture. This error seems to occur when attempting to save a new profile picture through the Settings app.

When users try to change their profile picture on their PC by navigating to Settings > Accounts > Your Information and selecting “Choose File.”

Microsoft’s confirmation says it affects two recent Windows 11 updates: KB5036893 (a mandatory Patch Tuesday update) and KB5036980 (an optional update that introduces ads in the Start menu).

The company has said that it is actively working on a resolution and plans to release a fix in an upcoming update.

So that this problem can be fixed. Users can also try the manual method to change their local profile picture.

How to Fix Profile Photo Settings in Windows 11

  • First of all, you have to go to (C:UsersUsernameAppDataRoamingMicrosoftWindowsAccountPictures).
  • After this, an image has to be inserted in the folder. Then restart the computer.

This final April update of Windows 11 KB5036980, also includes many other issues. Some users have encountered a black screen during the optional update. During which you have been asked to install Windows again.
