Windows 11 Copilot New Voice Commands
Some examples of the new voice commands are:
- Asking for Wi-Fi network information.
- Getting system details like battery level or storage space.
- Emptying the recycle bin.
- Toggling settings like Bluetooth, dark mode, narrator, etc.
- Launching apps or features like the magnifier, live captions and voice typing.
- Taking screenshots or casting your screen.
- Changing wallpaper or volume levels.
- Checking if certain hardware like audio, camera, etc. is working.
Currently, Copilot is limited to searches, basic commands, and some device controls. But Power Automate Desktop can automate more complex flows of actions. This should make Copilot much more useful as a voice-controlled digital assistant.
Microsoft likely hopes these upgrades can help Copilot catch up to competitors like Google Assistant. Windows 11 users have looked across the aisle at more advanced voice AI tools on other platforms.
The new capabilities are still in early testing with Windows Insiders. If testing goes well, the upgrades will roll out to all Windows 11 users over time.
Upgrading Windows 11, Microsoft is expanding the powers of Copilot by adding it to its task automation tools. This will let CoPilot control many more aspects of Windows through conversational voice commands. This is a big upgrade as Microsoft works to make Copilot more useful and competitive.
