Changes to open the Photos app Faster on Windows 11

The main idea is that Photos should start running in the background as soon as you turn on your computer. This way, when you actually click to open Photos. Then it should pop up very fast.

To give users control over this, Microsoft is adding a new ‘Performance’ switch to the app’s settings. So that whenever you turn it on. Then Photos will do this background startup thing. Right now, it is optional. But Microsoft may make it the default setting in the future.

This change comes after Microsoft recently gave Photos a big update. They switched it to a new type of app technology. The hope was that this would make things faster. But surprise! It actually made the app even slower for many people.

There is a catch, though, as having Photos always running in the background means it will use some of your computer’s resources all the time. This can slow down other tasks you’re doing, especially if your computer isn’t very powerful.

Microsoft is also working on other improvements, including making each photo window run separately, just like web browser tabs do. This will make the app run more smoothly, especially when you’re working with a lot of photos at once.

What’s important for users is that your Photos app is changing. It might be running a little slow right now, but Microsoft is trying to fix that. Due to which we will see a faster opening in the future, that too with new features.
