Microsoft has unveiled the new version 24H2 of Windows 11. It is available to everyone from May 22. Its annual feature upgrade is accessible to Insiders on the Release Preview channel. This improvement brings various innovative additions and refinements.

Windows 11 24H2 New Features and Improvements
Some special features can be seen in this version. There is an exceptional HDR wallpaper capability, letting users enjoy vibrant, realistic backgrounds. Energy saving mode optimizes power usage. Potentially extends battery time for portables.
To strengthen security and flexibility, sudo for Windows enables administrator functions with elevated permissions. Rust integration into the kernel promises to boost stability and performance.
At the current time, the 24H2 supports Wi-Fi 7 for fast, reliable wireless on compatible hardware. Voice clarity enhances audio quality for calls and recordings.
The UI also sees upgrades – a scrollable Quick Settings flyout on the taskbar, and File Explorer can now create 7-Zip and TAR archives next to ZIP files. Pairing Bluetooth Low Energy audio gadgets is streamlined.
While more details on the new capabilities are to come. Note that recently publicized AI features like Recall will not work after the update. as they require a dedicated CoPilot+ PC, according to Microsoft’s blog.
In an evolution, Copilot has become a pinnable taskbar app to resize/move windows as per the user’s preference. This allows nimbler development based on feedback to Microsoft.

Insiders in the Release Preview Channel can “discover” and install 24H2 (Build 26100.712) through Windows Update. They will then automatically receive the normal monthly servicing patches.
Businesses in this Insider Program can validate 24H2 internally through Windows Update for Business, WSUS, and soon the Azure Marketplace. If problems arise, IT can request support from Microsoft.
