A new “sudo” command is being tested. This allows running commands with admin rights directly from the command line. It has three modes – open elevated commands in a new window, run elevated commands in the same window but without input, or run elevated commands inline. Users should review the security considerations before enabling sudo.

Hearing aid support has been enhanced. Users can now adjust audio presets and ambient sound levels configured in compatible hearing aids directly from Windows Settings. The Bluetooth & Devices settings page also now shows more device details like battery life and makes it easier to access audio settings for audio devices.

A new microphone test utility lets users easily compare how their microphone sounds in “Default” and “Communication” modes. This helps test audio processing differences between communication and non-communication apps.

The Windows version number now shows as “24H2“, denoting this year’s feature update version.

Mixed reality portals and features are no longer available, as Windows Mixed Reality has been deprecated.

New taskbar icons distinguish File Explorer windows with multiple tabs.

Bluetooth device discovery now always scans for all devices but only shows common ones by defaultण्‍

Color management has moved from Control Panel to Settings.

Registry Editor searches can now be limited to the selected key and subkeys.

New developer APIs are introduced for power optimization.
